Palizzi 75

The project for the Palizzi 75 apartment is located in a particularly privileged hilly area of Naples as it represents a sort of natural balcony over the city from which you can observe the entire gulf: from the Posillipo hill to Punta Campanella on the Sorrento coast, at the center of this natural frame we find the island of Capri. The apartment in question, being on the attic floor, overlooks exactly this view and it is from this point that the project takes shape and shapes the entire home. The premise was therefore to design an apartment that would live an absolute connection with the panorama of the gulf.

From this initial assumption the project then took shape, the idea was to enhance the view and the colors of the landscape, designing an interior without filters, separations or closures and with decidedly neutral tones, which would fully enhance the color of the sea and the sky.

The apartment of about 150 square meters places its heart in the living room: an open space overlooking the gulf, shaped by the succession of furnishings that identify the functional areas (kitchen with island, table, sofa, equipped wall). Three rooms overlook the living room, a space flooded with light and inhabited by the view of the gulf: the entrance vestibule, the master bedroom and the corridor. All these rooms also enjoy the view thanks to the absence of clear separations. Solutions such as glass walls and windowed wardrobes allow the gaze to see the spatial limits and go beyond, to the view of the sea.

This is exactly the goal of the project: to give the possibility of observing the sea from every point of the house, from the living room to the bathroom passing through the bedroom. The latter, in particular, was conceived as a glass box next to the living room, in this way it is possible to observe the landscape lying down from your bed. If necessary, the linen curtain guarantees the necessary privacy. Finally, the corridor not only leads us to the other spaces of the house but also brings them the light and the view from the living room. Even from the bathroom, located at the end of the corridor, it is possible to observe the sea.

To maximize the value of the sea as a living part and as a project material, we chose to combine a neutral color palette, with warm, natural and Mediterranean tones. The walls are treated with a sand-colored lime plaster, the floors are in resin for the living area while we have a dark brown parquet for the sleeping area.

The fixed furnishings of the house are united by only two materials, namely walnut wood and Roman travertine while the mobile furnishings are all of a different color, thus placing them in relation through a chromatic symphony. One piece that stands out among all is the glossy lacquered table in nude pink, designed and created specifically for this project, as well as all the fixed furnishings.

The tone of the house is neutral but not devoid of warmth and personality. Indeed, the further challenge faced in this project was precisely that of maintaining a “silent but eloquent” register, an interior with its own soul that is independent of the location but that at the same time could be inhabited by the presence of the city and the sea without creating dissonances.
