Caveau

Caveau is an artistic perfumery in Caserta and its project reinterprets in a contemporary way the layout and logic of the ancient Italian pharmacies and spice shops. The perfumery occupies the ground floor of a 19th century building, made up of thick tuff walls and barrel vaults, with a precious Calacatta marble floor. The design concept involves the enhancement of the pre-existing architectural structure and the insertion of display cases placed inside the rooms that are configured as fixed furnishings arranged along the walls. The two boxes recall the wooden and leaded glass display cases of classic spice shops and pharmacies but their contemporary declination brings them to life in a new form and new materials.

The furniture of the first room is made up of modules with frames and shelves in burnished steel while the bottoms are in backlit satin glass, some modules are exceptional elements where we find furniture in makassar ebony, travertine tops and dove-gray leather bottoms. The steel furniture extends along the four walls without interruption, where the openings and the views towards the outside are equally characterized by steel frames. In the center of the first room there is a burnished metal cabinet, consisting of a metal cage that envelops shelves and revolving ebony dividers.

The second room becomes more exclusive, featuring lacquered wood furniture and orange leather bottoms. Here we also find a travertine sink set in the furniture. In the center of the room there is a large custom-made pouf with antique-toned upholstery.

The existing structure, visible above the furniture, has been treated with a textured earth-colored lime plaster and embellished with a punctual pendant lighting with multiple bodies with variable heights.
